There’s one colour we can’t stop styling with this winter: hazelnut.
Warm, earthy, and endlessly versatile, hazelnut is cropping up in every corner of our homes - from soft textiles and grounding cushions to ceramics, timber tones, and beyond. It’s the kind of colour that doesn’t shout for attention but quietly transforms a space.
Hazelnut offers the perfect balance between cool minimalism and cosy maximalism. It softens bold palettes, adds depth to light ones, and brings a sense of calm to layered, collected interiors. It plays well with everything- from rust and ochre to lilac and sage - and it’s one of the easiest ways to make your home feel warm and pulled together.
This winter, we’re styling it with rich plum, creamy white, and terracotta for a grounded, tonal look. But we’re also loving the unexpected beauty of hazelnut with soft lilacs and buttery yellow, bringing a fresh twist to classic winter palettes.
How to style hazelnut at home this winter
Looking to bring more hazelnut into your space? Here are a few of our go-to seasonal styling tips:
1. Go tonal with your textures
Layer hazelnut tones with similar shades - think caramel, ochre, cinnamon, and taupe. The key is to mix materials: boucle with linen, wool with timber, matte ceramics with glossy glass.
2. Soften bold colour combos
If you're drawn to statement colours like violet, emerald or burnt orange, introduce hazelnut to ground the palette. A cushion, throw, or piece of timber furniture can create visual balance.
3. Bring in natural elements
Hazelnut thrives in rooms with plenty of natural textures. Add woven baskets, raw-edged ceramics, dried botanicals, or vintage wood pieces to complement the warmth of the colour.
4. Don’t forget the light
Hazelnut loves soft, ambient lighting. Style it near a table lamp or in the corner of a room that catches afternoon sun. The golden hour glow makes it come alive.
5. Think season-to-season
It may be a winter favourite, but hazelnut is just as beautiful in summer. Come spring, try pairing it with sky blue, buttery yellow, or fresh green to keep it feeling light and airy.
Whether you’re adding just one piece or leaning into a full tonal palette, hazelnut is our colour of the season - and we don’t see it going anywhere soon.
